you can lower the front by setting fork higher in the triple clamps.
The springs control the way the suspension works.
If you want to lower the front the forks will be above the triple clamp up 1 inch maybe more.
to lower the rear you would get shorter shocks.
If I understand correctly you...
Did you compare the new springs to the old ones?? Install a shorter spacer if you are trying to lower the front.
13 inch on the rear shocks is the stock height I believe.
Good rule is to lower the front and rear the same amount to keep the stock geometry.
But always a but,
Choppers with...
I had a condenser that was bad on a car caused engine backfire and missing issue.
See you noted parts are new does not mean they are good. Never assume.
Electric problems are always interesting. Bench testing a coil with a
Ohm meter for resistance is a static test - in real world use the coil is alive with electricity. Old coils can have cracks in the casing casing shorts to ground / frame. Running or testing in Dark sometimes tells all you...
Yes drain fluid and refill from the top. Do not remove both fork caps at the same time as front end will drop.
Or you can support front end from ceiling joist.
I have a 4 inch pvc spacer in my 92 nighthawk forks stiffens up the front forks.
350 to 400cc of fork oil or measure what you drain...
Sounds like the shop that did the carb cleaning just added SEAFOAM or other carb cleaning solution to gas tank.
How much $$$ did they charge you??
Clogged jets
Ok I don’t believe you have 3 bad starter motors. I believe user error.
Positive must be isolated from ground terminal you are doing a dead short.
Sounds like a user problem, please step back and rethink.
Good advice.
Take tank off. Be careful with cleaning solution.
I use some 6 inch small loop chains from ACE hardware drop in the tank and rotate/ shake tank to knock any rust free.
You should have an inline clear fuel filter to see if any rust is getting out of the tank. Plus the fuel...
WOW!! Long post. Good read thanks for sharing.
70,000 miles on a cheap Honda. Nighthawk was a entry level motorcycle price below $4000 new $3995 was the price.
Resale value on a 70,000 mile Nighthawk. Maybe $1000
I did read your post 1 owner regularly maintained.
CB1100EX is the bike I...
"the automatic shutoff is not really important to the way the bike functions,"
This is not correct and I speak from experience:
My 1992 Nighthawk. (CB750) had a bad fuel petcock would not hold vacuum and caused starting problems long cranking, slow to idle up on cold startups. I thought it was...
original post - over 1 year old - Then Op gives it a bump!!! WOW!!!
But always a BUTT!!! We have no idea what year CB750 or Nighthawk?? this part is for.... WOW!!
Guessing a 1979 to 1983 but did the op put it in the right group???
No such thing - "automatic fuel vale" maybe a auto...
Most American market bikes after around 1980 do not have a on/off headlight switch.
Most states require motorcycles to have the headlight on when on the road.
Many reasons - rust is tank east coast humidity, Carbs clogged due to dried up fuel, rust is crankcase due to humidity and storage location -in a shed maybe.. bearing rusted due to sitting rain / humidity... do I need to continue... mud dobber's, mouse piss, electrical wing damage rodents...
92 Nighthawk here and the valves do not need to adjusted ever. Hydraulic lifers so the oil being clean is very important. Yes 50k is high mileage but depending on owner maintenance is not a problem. 31k is much better. 12k would be great if kept in running condition.
Avoid the bike with 5k...
always have good results with Odyssey batteries

I think the reading of Mark's book would give you a good idea on engine rebuilding. If you like Mark's style of writing.
Your not reading reading a novel from cover to cover to get some kind of story.
Reference guide to the species of your engine, year, make, model.
SOHC and DOHC engines are...
take a flexible piece of plastic or business card and slide between fork seal and fork. work it around the fork. then put in clean ATF
may be a easy fix
That is actually a CB900 can tell by the 2nd shifter for HI/LO. Should have a shaft drive on the other side.
Worth something to someone would make a good gift to interested person.
Good for parts motorcycle junkyards all over the country.
